Palmarius Rods – Customer Care & Proper Use

We are truly sorry to hear you experienced an issue with your Palmarius rod. At Palmarius, our mission is to ensure every customer has an outstanding experience, and we stand behind our products with confidence.

✅ Our Triple Testing Process

Every Palmarius rod undergoes a rigorous, multi-step quality assurance process before it reaches you:

  1. Blank Testing: Each carbon blank is brutally machine-tested. Roughly 3 out of every 100 blanks fail at this stage and are removed immediately.

  2. Build Testing: Completed rods are strung with #300 Kevlar line, looped around the reel seat, and a 3 kg kettlebell is repeatedly bounced on them inside a safety booth. About 1 out of every 100 rods fail here.

  3. Final U.S. Inspection: Upon arrival, every rod is personally inspected and flex-tested before being packed in a Palmarius-branded sleeve for safe shipping.

If your rod has passed all of these stages, you can be sure it left us as a 100% sound and solid product.

🎣 Care & Transport Guidelines

SPJ (Slow Pitch Jigging) rods are ultra-light, ultra-sensitive, and high-performance tools. Because of their thin-walled carbon construction, they require special handling:

  • Always store and transport rods in the provided Palmarius sleeve or our Palmarius Mesh Rod Sleeve.

  • Avoid impacts or stress while not fishing — unseen damage during transport is the most common cause of failure.

🐟 Proper Fishing Technique

Slow Pitch Jigging rods are designed differently than fiberglass rods. To get the best performance and longevity:

  • Rod Angle: Keep the rod parallel to the water or lower, pointing toward the fish. If you see more than two guides above the bend, you’re lifting too high.

  • No Pumping / Hook-Setting: Unlike traditional rods, SPJ rods are not meant for aggressive hook sets or “high sticking.” Instead:

    • Reel down until tight.

    • Fight the fish with the power of the reel.

    • If needed, straddle the rail cowboy-style, pointing the rod at the fish while grinding with the reel.

  • Fighting Angles: Maintain angles between 0° (tip pointed at the fish) and 45° (rod parallel to water).

⚡ Key Takeaway

Palmarius SPJ rods weigh under 2 ounces and are finely tuned instruments. They are not designed for “Bill Dance” style hook sets or heavy lifting. With proper technique and care, they will deliver unmatched sensitivity, strength, and success on the water.
