Good morning everyone. I think many of our members and friends took advantage of the Cruiser Slow Pitch Rod Clearance we have going on (yes there is still good stock). We ended up taking these rods - in both conventional and spinning down to the Maldives last month and fishing them daily during the trip. The rods pack well (Handle + Tip Section) allows you to get them in a rod tube not more than 5 feet long - so transport was a breeze and no extra fees or fines where incurred even on the smaller plane into Male.
Captain Akeem caught a very nice GT on the jig and the rod handled the fish well (about 75% of the way you can see the size of the GT about 10KG - 22 Pounds or so). This was the Medium weight model in Spinning.

We had a full day sun up to sun down fishing with Akeem. They saved us alot of time collecting us right off the back of the LiveAboard.com boat but it was less smooth than we thought as the harbor there in Male has quite a bit of traffic and the speedboats and tenders in the dozens leave a good wake and swell in the harbor there making boarding a bit hairy but tying up to to the Dori (Dive Tender) proved to the ticket.
The day was exactly as Captain Anwar predicted a wide variety of fish caught perhaps 17 different interesting and new species were landed including a variety of surgeon fishes, snappers including a nice sized Emperor Snapper Lixi Caught on the jig, to a bunch of different Groupers Honeycomb, Coral Trouts, African Pompanos of some variety.
