Dan put the new Eversea M1 (400g to 650g) Rod system to work this past week on the Captain Lou Fleet. Just as the sun was setting on Day #2 of their 3.5 Day OTG Tile/Barrel Fish trip - Dan connected with something solid and it turned out to be this nice sized 32 Pound Hake. A deep water dweller renowned for its pure white meat and good eating.
The Eversea is a "System" consisting of a carbon fiber and aluminum handle section that contains 4 Li-Ion Cells. Model one uses 4 x 12775 sized cells and supports jig weights 100g to 400g with a 2 piece tip (Included in the kit) and/or jigs to 700g max using a Palmarius L-4 tip Section. Using the L-4 Tip section makes the overall length of the rod about 7'2"

The 4 12775 Cells will run a Daiwa or Ecooda electric reel for the same time as a PAB II 5,000mAH pack which in my experience is 4 to 6 hours. In terms of draw the handle section will provide up to about 4 AMPS of continuous draw enough for a G200/G300 or a G400 (run at 3/4 speed). It will NOT support a G400 sized reel running full bore, the overload protection kicks in at about 5 AMPS of draw and it shuts down. You can turn it off/on to reboot it and proceed with fishing.
The new model the M2 that will lift jigs to 1000g is being designed to support to 6.5AMPS of continuous draw so it will support 400 and 500 sized Daiwa/Ecooda reels.
The rod is sold as a kit consisting of: Charger, 4 batteries, 4 ferrels that support Rod Blade / Tip OD of 8.0 to 11.0mm, Handle section with on/off button, cable that support Dawia and Ecooda reels. Also on the way are spare on/off buttons and ferrels in case anyone loses theirs we will have spares for sale at a nominal price.
